Taking photographs at night (especially portraits) can be an arduous task, since the total absence of natural light makes it impossible to get consistently sharp pictures and detailed compositional elements.
But who ever said that photography is only made of perfectly exposed, sharp photos? If I am not mistaken the rules are learned in art only to be broken, and I think that photography falls perfectly in the field of 'art.
