Logo Shutterstock Founded in 2003, Shutterstock is the largest microstock photo agency selling. Recently, the volume of photographs has increased by 1 million images in just 3 months.

What has made Shutterstock a leading microstock market was primarily the spirit of innovation, being the first to offer the option to purchase packages of images through subscriptions or "subscriptions", the first one offering video clips and give the possibility provide editorial images.

Homepage Shutterstock The odds of selling a photograph of Shutterstock is very high especially for the most recently uploaded images (it is important to keep your portfolio up to date), and unusual subjects are favored in the acceptance phase.

The canons of Shutterstock on the quality of the photos are very hard to be sent, but this is one of the reasons that made possible the success of this site.

Once registered, you need to start selling all 10 images provide high quality and, once that "all 10" meet the standards required by Shutterstock , you can inizare to sell and expect volume of business very satisfactory.

I always remember to update your portfolio with a certain constancy, since sales tend to decline for the uploaded photos for a long time.

Shutterstock is also a site that offers excellent service statistics relating to your portfolio and sales volume.

The subscription system (subscription) puts in a vision to microstock Shutterstock different from other agencies, it is still of microstock, but whose clientele consists primarily of design professionals (whose demand is very high quality images) and not the "designer of Sunday" that want to give a touch of professionalism and originality to your blog.

From one point of view, that the design is a great market to be served, especially at international level, also when a user subscribes, tends to be less selective and download hundreds of images to be tested in more than a design to those who pay several euros for a single image on another microstock site, favoring a more homogeneous distribution of sales among all users.

Shutterstock has created a slightly different segment in the microstock market, making it difficult to compare with other agencies, but the statistics of the best microstocker (and my) shutterstock placing among the sites from which you can make more money.

Shutterstock offers different types of subscription on a monthly basis or packages to be used at any time (but in the second case the images are more expensive).

Shutterstock is also the owner of the smallest agency BigStockPhoto .

SYSTEM OF MEMBERSHIP (Referral)

Shutterstock also gives you the opportunity for new photographers and pays you a small percentage of sales generated by these:

-20% On sales of new members, 3 cents per scariata images by photographers affiliated, but beware, for life! (The other sites are usually the last one year affiliation agreement only - great if you think you can have a large number of photographers).

I must confess that I gained only by affiliation with the same digits made the sale on other sites.

Subscribe to Shutterstock yourself and start selling your photos.

    Hello,
first of all thank you for the clarity and completeness of your articles, I find them very interesting and useful. I have a question regarding Shutterstock and the like: if I want to subscribe solely to sell pictures I have to pay some kind of subscription? Microstock sites do not seem clear to me, speak of membership types only in relation to the number of immagioni you can download / purchase but has not explained what to do if it is only interested in publishing and selling photos.
    Thanks

Selling photographs on sites like Shuttestock only means to earn, and would not make sense to pay any money to join.
It 'true that the agencies retain a percentage of sales price, we say that something we pay, but only in relation to our sales.
My advice is to start immediately and send your pictures to all possible sites.

Here's an example of images that Fotolia accepts (from my portfolio)

I hope to be quite clear .... thanks. lika

the last thing you need to have the VAT?

  • Andy (author) said:

Payments are made via paypal or menybookers, and is not necessary to have a VAT number, although to be honest, before you start thinking about their earnings is appropriate to assess what and how you can earn.

To get started visit the section microstock this site and then delve into the mains, always using the word "microstock" as a search key, bearing in mind that the best content are mostly in English.

    Hi,
    my question is:
THERE IS A TRANSLATION OF THE AGREEMENT SIGNED BETWEEN Shutterstock AND "CONTRIBUTORS"?

In advance thank you for evfentuale response and for the precious and very clear info found on this site.

Sorry for the delay with respect to your comments on the article but realized only today.

I wanted to ask some things that I was not clear:

    > Posting on shuttershock or general on other sites like this, I lose the rights of my image? Or better after I uploadate, I can not reuse them for other sites (even the same genre) or give me the same rights to third parties if I wanted my images? So they are bound?

    > If I gave you my images even without charge for covers or magazines (but without an unique rights of contract at the time of the sale to that magazine), I notify when I post the photo that has already been used by others or not constraints exist?

    > If I post photos of portraits that provide a letter of resolution of privacy for the use of the image, because sometimes these images from what I understand to areas of advertising, as I prompted this decision?

Thank you in advance for your patience and for the information I was providing. Your professionalism is always at the top.

    Regards,

    Pingo

    Pingo Hello, I answer briefly:

    > When uploading photos to microstock sites, you lose absolutely no rights to use that image as it is yours and will remain so. Shoppers who buy it acquire the rights to use any scope.
However, it is possible that a user wants to purchase the rights to that image, and in that case its price would be considerably higher. In this case the user may use the image for commercial purposes.

    > Also in this case, the photo is your and remains so, even if you have granted for free

    > The release form must be provided by the user who upload the photos, so who buys photos of portraits has every right to use it within their work

    Hope that help

Hello. You've been helpful, thanks. The only thing that is clear, however, did not I: if the buyer wants to take the rights for commercial purposes (at that price much higher) then in that case, the photo will no longer be downloaded by others (ie he will buy it outright ) or will it still be sold? And in any marketing outside of the site, I would be bound in any way?

Forgive me for the inconvenience and thanks for the help they have given me already.

    Pingo
